The Charmante: Senior Capstone Project
Project type
Senior Capstone Project
Date
Fall 2023-Spring 2024
Location
New Orleans
For the duration of senior year, all students are required to fully complete a capstone project that addresses a current issue in the real world. For my thesis, I wanted to focus on the city of New Orleans and address the realities of a post-flood urban layout. With that being said, I chose to create an adaptive reuse boutique hotel using the existing Norman Mayer Building in the Business District to emphasize the importance of adaptive reuse in hospitality design. The building was once a part of the Whitney Bank Complex and now, sits vacant. I was attracted to this building because of its Rococo style facade and ideal location. For the fall semester, students were required to complete a detailed Thesis Handbook that contains six chapters and discusses the thesis proposal to completion. Along with the handbook, students were required to create a Thesis Defense Presentation to show the staff during finals. Throughout the spring semester, students fully designed the building and completed a published handbook and presentation. I fully built and designed the boutique hotel on Revit and took various renderings on Enscape.
