The purpose of BloomSprouts is to provide health resources and necessities to the Homeless population in New York City. The design incorporates the biomimicry of Mushrooms and slight inspiration from umbrellas, and flower petals; each of these aim to provide safety and comfort. The goal of a mushroom is to prosper and populate itself. They are able to find their home and build a community. The hope is that this design will effectively help those in need while providing security, resources, and a relation to the site. The structure features a large circular canvas top that is supported by its geodesic underlining that offers privacy for resources. Each form is connected to the other in a layered orientation that creates a modern and enriched look. The formation is collapsible due to the large hinges placed on top of each dome. Each structure provides a different experience specially catered to its intended use with lounge seating placed all-throughout each space. It is of utmost importance that the structures are as functional as possible and able to not disregard the actual necessities of the community. For this design it is a hope to create a welcoming “third place” with a unique structure that can help everyone prosper. The perfect use of the site is to create dualities to the spaces that are already available and elevate them to create a new experience that is tailored to the people.
